Fill the Gazebo Food Drive 

When:
The Fill The Gazebo Food Drive 2022 will be held on Saturday, August 6th from 9:00 a.m. until 11:00 a.m.

Where:
The gazebo at Normal Park on Center Avenue and 6th Street.

Rain location: Merrill Festival Grounds

Why: Fill the Gazebo Food Drive began in 2013. It replaced the CROP Hunger Walk, a quarter of whose proceeds remained local. One hundred per cent of Gazebo Drive proceeds stay in our community. Each year they have been divided between Merrill’s three food pantries and the local Food for Kids program. Since its inception 38,171 pounds of food and personal care items as well as $30,015 in monetary donations have been contributed. The Drive’s official sponsor is the Merrill Ministerium.  

What:
​The COVID pandemic caused more food insecurity in our area, but thanks to special government commodities and compassionate donors, the shelves at our food pantries are fairly well-stocked. We will still take food donations this year but also want to highlight the need for other items. Merrill community agencies which assist in providing basic necessities have identified needs which include:

personal care items (toothbrushes, shampoo, bar soap, etc.)
cleaning supplies
food items rarely donated
monetary donations

The need is GREAT.  The Gazebo is HUGE.
Together we can fill it!
Checks may be made payable to the Merrill Food Pantry with “Fill the Gazebo” on the memo line. From there monies will be divided equally between Merrill’s three food pantries.  All checks may be brought to the gazebo on the day of the drive, or, if it’s more convenient, sent to Our Saviour’s Lutheran Church at 300 Logan Street, Merrill, WI 54452.
